Rue du Mail

Fashion Designer

Rue du Mail was a French fashion label established in 2006 at 5 rue du Mail, with Martine Sitbon as founding designer. Born in Casablanca in 1952, Sitbon graduated from the Studio Berçot in Paris with a degree in fashion design in 1974. She began her career as a fashion consultant and freelance designer before working as head designer at Chloé from the mid 1980s and Byblos from 2001, in addition to her own eponymous label founded in 1984. The Rue du Mail label used Sitbon’s strong experience to build collections based on wearable day wear and luxurious evening garments. Sitbon worked closely with her husband, art director Marc Ascoli, on the realisation of Rue du Mail's visual identity. As of 2013, the brand ceased operations.
