Rustam Ilyasov

Film director Rustam Ilyasov is a graduate of VGIK (The Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, Moscow). While still a student in his third year, he collaborated with fashion designer Dasha Gauser on a short film, Vera, that premiered online in 2012. Vera was later included in the official selection of short films at 35th International Moscow Film Festival and won Best Branded Fashion Film at Madrid Fashion Film Festival in 2013. Since then, the designer-director duo collaborate every season, producing cinematic fashion shorts with professional or sometimes celebrity actors and with full-blown feature film quality. Ilyasov directs and writes original screenplays for all his fashion films. Another short film of his,The Castles of the Elves, was awarded Best Short at Moscow International Film Festival. In 2014, Ilyasov began filming his first full-length feature The Vacant Life of a Chef based on his original screenplay, with the film being released in 2015.
