Simeon Barclay

Simeon Barclay is an artist living and working in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. He recieved his MFA from Goldsmiths College, London, a PG Dip at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London and a BA from Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds.

Recent exhibitions include; Art Now: The Hero Wears Clay Shoes, Tate Britain, London (2017); They Don't Like It Up 'Em, Cubitt, London (2016); Exit, Rodolphe Janssen, Brussels (2017); Houses are Really Bodies, Cubitt, London (2017); On Longing, Arcadia Missa, New York (2017); Wagstaff's, Mostyn, Llandudno (2017); Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool (2016). He is the recipient of the Liverpool Biennial Associate Artist Award.

Barclay is invested in the dynamic nature of language, the mediated image and objects to both seduce and provoke. These impulses are understood in relation to the human condition, an existence Barclay perceives as being caught up in the tumultuous, unfixed process of situating and defining ourselves within culture and tradition.
