Six and Seven Eighths is a collaborative design label created by Antonio Ciutto and David Wojtowycz. Ciutto was born in South Africa and studied architecture before completing an MA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins in London. He then established his own signature label in 2000, specializing in engineered digital print. Ukrainian David Wojtowycz graduated in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College of Art, London. After working as a children’s book illustrator, Wojtowycz began collaborating full-time with Ciutto, establishing 6 7/8 in 2006. The team attempt not to be bound by a concept or design philosophy, hence their chosen name for their label, which according to Ciutto and Wojtowycz is ‘so unspecific you couldn’t hang an ideology on it’. Six and Seven Eighths focuses upon technique, research and pattern cutting, playing with scale and proportion and contrasting dramatic oversized shapes. The duo were one of four finalists for the Fashion Fringe Award in 2006.
