Theo Adams is a self taught performance artist and director based in London. Adams made his professional stage debut in An Inspector Calls directed by Stephen Daldry at the Garrick Theatre in London's West End aged 9. He says the valuable experience taught him how to understand audiences and how productions work from a backstage perspective. Having left school early to pursue a career in performance art, Adams soon founded his own theatrical performance group. The Theo Adams Company started in 2007 through an organic process that developed over several months, resulting in its first premiere at the Tate Britain on 4 January 2008.

The Theo Adams Company coordinates an international troupe of dancers, musicians, actors, singers and artists to create large scale theatrical productions that aim to challenge conventional theatrical formats and question traditional notions of entertainment. Their pieces often incorporate a multitude of media including film and sound. At the same time they are often described as part pop, art, drama and drag.

Adams has performed and exhibited across the globe, namely New York, California, Milan and London. He also toured with his production, the internationally acclaimed Cry Out, where they premiered in Tokyo as well as to sold out performances in London.
