Thomas Engel Hart

Fashion Designer

Fashion designer Thomas Engel Hart was born in New York and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. At the age of 25, he moved to Paris where he worked for Berçot, and then assisted André Walker and Véronique Leroy from 2000 to 2001. He launched his own label with a Spring/Summer 2002 collection, inspired by rock-and-roll dandies. In 2002 he was won a fellowship award by Andam. In 2005, Engel Hart was named as design chief for French fashion house Thierry Mugler. In 2008 he returned to his own label in Paris Fashion Week when he presented his Spring/Summer 2009 collection, Disco Butoh. The brand appears to have stopped operation after presenting Spring/Summer 2011.
