William Oliver is the editor of style, music and pop culture digital platform, District MTV.
After originally studying photography, Oliver began writing and editing working at industry art bible The Art Newspaper. While there he began contributing regularly to a number of style publications including AnOther, AnOther Man, Dazed & Confused, i-D, Arena Homme +, NOWNESS and Wallpaper*, focusing on fashion and visual art.
Deciding to focus more on his interest in fashion and style, Oliver left The Art Newspaper and spent two years working on various projects including authoring Style Feed, published by Prestel, in collaboration with Susanna Lau, curating photography space Pleasant Projects, lecturing at the University of Creative Arts Epsom and working closely with commercial clients ranging from Louis Vuitton, Versace and Kenzo to Peroni, Reebok and ASOS.
Moving from his freelance work, Oliver helped launch District MTV from inception in 2012 as the Editor, curating the site as a platform that supports both emerging designers and musicians while bringing together a network of more established creatives. He was awarded the Fashion Monitor Online Fashion Journalist of the Year 2013 award for his work there.
Alongside his editorial work, Oliver has also written a number of artist monograph forewords and essays for photographers including Rankin, Paul Mpagi Sepuya and Iain McKell.
