Milliner

Philip Treacy is one of Britain's foremost miliners, originally from County Galway in Ireland. He attended the Royal College of Art in London and his 1990 graduation show gained him international recognition from the fashion industry. Treacy has won British Accessory Designer of the Year award five times and during his acclaimed career, he has worked with design houses Chanel, Versace, Valentino, Thierry Mugler, Rifat Ozbek, Alexander McQueen and Givenchy. Treacy held his first solo show in 1993 where Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Stella Tennant modelled the collection. Treacy proceeded to show once a year in the London Autumn/Winter collections and also New York. In January 2000, Treacy was invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture to stage his ‘Orchid’ collection during Couture Fashion Week in Paris - the first ever Haute Couture show in Paris devoted to hats. Treacy has gone on to design the 'Portrait Chair' for Habitat's 'Very Important Product' range in 2004, and has further moved into the world of interior design, in becoming appointed Design Director for the Interiors of Monogram Hotel's flagship property in London in 2005. In 2000 his work was the subject of the exhibition ‘Unlikely Sculpture’, and in 2002 he exhibited hats created for Isabella Blow in ‘When Philip met Isabella’ at the Design Museum in London, with the launch of the first Philip Treacy book published by Assouline to catalogue the exhibition. In 2007, Treacy was awarded an OBE by Her Majesty The Queen in recognition of his services to the British Fashion industry.
