Kate Phelan is a Fashion Director at British Vogue. Born in Exeter in 1964, she moved to London 1984 and enrolled on the Fashion Design course at Central St Martins. During her third year placement, she worked at Vogue and made the decision to not return to university to complete her degree. Phelan worked at Vogue as a Fashion Assistant and later moved to Marie Claire where she joined as Junior Fashion Editor. In 1993, she returned to Vogue as Fashion Editor and was recently appointed Fashion Director, a position she shares with Lucinda Chambers.
