You are lucky to have found Showstudio. This whole platform is about fashion films, documenting fashion, interviews about making of fashion films. There are tons of fashion films, from documentary to music video types.
At the moment i'm writing a essay about fashionfilms. But i find it hard to get my hands on resources which are academic.
Does anybody of you know any resources which can help me to make my essay about fashionfilms any better.
Cause even my teacher didn't knew anything about fashionfilms.

Hello Esvier,
Not to blow our own trumpet, but the catalogue for our forthcoming 'SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution' exhibition certainly offers some interesting insight into the subject of fashion film, with essays from Professor Penny Martin and Alistair O'Neill and an introduction by Nick Knight. The catalogue will be published alongsie the exhibition in September and is free to anyone attending.
Also, it would certainly be worth looking at the interview with Nick for our 2005 'Moving Fashion' project for more insight and some great quotes: http://www.showstudio.com/projects/movingfashion/interview/
Our Bird's Eye View project is also interesting and the transcript should offer some more gems! http://www.showstudio.com/project/birdseyeview2009/

I am also writing my dissertation on fashion film and how fashion once influenced film but now film is influencing fashion, and what the future holds for this new genre.
I am in real need of some books to read and information so if anyone can help more I would be really grateful!
Thanks
Jess

QUOTE : ..... " how fashion once influenced film but now film is influencing fashion " ... this sentence caught up my attention and then I started to wonder .... is film really influencing fashion? ... or should it be said that film is becoming the ' new ' medium to promote the selling of the designer's collections, by replacing the eagerly expected seasonal fashion shows ? ... and yet I can't help to think about the rise of the level of adrenaline when those well orchestrated FASHION SHOWS are ready to roll ... the down fall being of course that indeed very few people are be able to participate in such FASHION treats full of drama and theatre ... I'm still a little sceptical that FASHION FILM will ever replace the FASHION SHOWS totally .... we as humans love always to enjoy the ' real thing ' ... even if it means to wait under the rain and having to put up with people's frenzied primitive behaviour when trying to get into a top fashion show ..... the ability to make people go amusingly wild ..... time will tell I suppose ....

Who said that fashion films will replace fashion shows? That is ridiculous.
Fashion films are the future of editorial imagery and catalogues.
There is no threat to trendy events.
Matter of fact I believe films can be used to great advantage to heighten the fashion show experience.
For years still editorial still pictures have blatantly ripped off films and the time has come to do some original films and not hackneyed quasi-voyeuristic photography shoot backstage stuff.

Personally .... I'm not as sure that it is " ridiculous", what I do believe is that it is most IMPROBABLY and yet its is always to one's own great advantage to ALWAYS keep an extremely open mind ... one never really knows with absolute certainty :) .....
