CHRISTMASTIDE Richard Nicoll on the 12th Day of Christmas
To close our festive season of Christmastide crystal interactives, our final image selection for the twelfth day of Christmas comes from leading London light Richard Nicoll. A designer who frequently riffs on fashion's classic and then twists them into entirely his own form, Nicoll's selection is a true moodboard of iconic imagery and striking use of light and shade from interwar photography (Horst P. Horst, Hoyningen-Huene et al), albeit scrambled by our Swarovski crystal looking-glass into a resolutely modern mosaic. Shades of A/W 2009 Nicoll to come? We can only wait with baited breath until his show on 22 February...
A great project, SHOWstudio. Very resolved from start to finish. The figurative touches are great when they creep in against the almost uniform abstraction.
