Since burlesque beauties first burst on the Vaudeville stage in the 1880s, cross-dressing torch singers lit up silver screens in the 1930s and glam rockers bent gender distinctions in the 1970s, fashion has defined the appearance and character of every important moment in musical history. And in turn, fashion continues to draw on that heady heritage for inspiration season after season.
To celebrate this inextricable link between musical performance and fashion exhibitionism, SHOWstudio and Swarovski are partnering on Fashion DJs: an ambitious, three-day music and fashion event to be held at the legendary Abbey Road Studios on 9, 10 and 11 July 2008. Fashion DJs will be broadcast live on SHOWstudio.com and swarovskisparkles.tv and also transmitted via radio for London listeners, on 87.7FM.
Nick Knight and the team have invited a number of very special fashion creatives and personalities to be a 'Fashion DJ'. Each will host a 'set', incorporating a selection of music and chat, as well as invited musical and art performances of the Fashion DJ's choosing.
Guest Fashion DJs already confirmed include Naomi Campbell, Gareth Pugh, Stephen Jones, Jefferson Hack and Bella Freud. Each have selected a theme for their set, guaranteeing a visual spectacle as well as an audio feast.

Fashion DJs Image Galleries Launched!
SHOWstudio's three-day fashion and music extravaganza Fashion DJs was an unforgettable live spectacle for all involved - not only for the wealth of musical performance, but also the dizzying visual feast. Celebrating and showcasing the latter, the latest addition to our Fashion DJs project is an exhaustive array of images from photographer Clive Booth and set designer Gideon Ponte, captured live on the studio floor during the Fashion DJs broadcast in July 2008. Accompanied by a selection of stills from our Fashion DJs film, chosen by Nick Knight, these galleries - containing almost four hundred exclusive images - serve as fitting document of all the excitement and glamour of this extraordinary and unique live event.
