Alexander McQueen's tenure at the French couture house of Givenchy was marked by his trademark fusion of the raw and the rareified, as exemplified in these strictly tailored suits from his Autumn/Winter 2000 haute couture collection. On the surface, or rather in silhouette, they are the epitome of the art of the couture tailleur, the perfection of fit that can only be achieved by garments entirely made to measure. But as Nick Knight's fashion film displays, McQueen brings this age-old bang up to date, setting his suits pulsing with fibre-optic lights pinstriped through the fabric itself. An intriguing mix of technique and technology, Nick Knight captures these suits in the animation no fashion still could ever achieve, but which they were undoubtedly designed for.
