For Dice Kayek’s S/S 16 collection, presented at Fashion Week Istanbul on 16 March 2016, Parisian designer Ece Ege explores the concept of clothing architecture. Ece Ege references Origami, utilising elaborated yet minimalistic shapes, embroideries and neutral colours.
Kayek asked Marie Schuller - for their fifth filmic collaboration - to create a short showcasing her architectural yet approachable collection. Jokes plays with the surreal and often absurd process of creating fashion imagery. Half-finished sets and lighting gear float like islands in the white studio, whilst the crew become inadvertent extras in the raw and unpolished film. The models are captured not only posing to camera, but candidly waiting for instruction, fumbling with clothes and telling jokes amongst the crew. Capturing candid shots of the cast and on-set team, Schuller’s film aims to portray a raw, bare and honest portrayal of both the fashion and the process of film-making.
