Et voila…the ‘Readings’ movie has launched, in conjunction with Hussein’s Paris fashion week show and Anthony’s soundtrack proves to be powerful counterpoint to the designs. But the tale is only half told without a look at the ‘making of’ movie, showing the blood, sweat and lasers behind the film's dazzling finale. Go to www.swarovskisparkles.tv for the exclusive footage.
The fashion crowd aren't naturally receptive to a film in place of a catwalk show so Hussein and co. were rather holding their breath tonight. But the general consensus was that there was enough detail shown of the 30 or so looks filmed to constitute a thorough representation of the collection. Some resistance is to be anticipated, but it felt like Hussein made an important progression for fashion film tonight in the face of some Canute-like opposition to the inevitable forward march of fashion technology.
The Readings movie has been launched! Watch the glorious mix of Hussein Chalayan's S/S'08 collection and Anthony Hegarty's music, inspired by SHOWstudio's viewers, as the film airs simultaneously in Paris.
Look out for the launch of the ‘Readings’ collaboration between Nick Knight, Anthony Hegarty and Hussein Chalayan filmed last week. Hot off the editing desk, the showcase movie is awaiting its premiere this evening in Paris at Hussein’s show and will be launched simultaneously on the site at approximately 7pm.
Reflecting upon Hussein Chalayan’s proposal, Nick Knight opened a floodgate of suggestions for the ‘Readings’ film being shot this week. The suggestions for Antony Hegarty produced a great flow of creative ideas, wild concepts, and outlandish proposals. Submissions range from Arabic chanting to the sound of Nuremberg rally crowds atop Tesco checkout till beeps. The form to submit your own treatment is still open and we are still taking suggestions so submit your ideas in our ‘Call for Entries’ section whilst we set about sourcing those sheep bones, theramins, conches and Jew's Harps...
We are delighted that our guest musician for READINGS is to be the talented Antony Hegarty! We will be shooting this Wednesday and Thursday, 26 & 27th: watch this space for confirmation, sending in your sound ideas for Antony as you do!
Great to see the suggestions for Antony coming in. To make the brief really clear, I want suggestions for simple ways to make sound, not whole song treatments. For example, banging coconuts, tapping her foot whilst humming or playing the spoons.
Yours,
Nick
In addition to the BRIEF published yesterday, Hussein obliged us with a little interview to get you inspired. Hear him talk you though the 'Readings' collection and draw attentions to the aspects you should be interpreting into music...
