Sittings: Thirty Men

Over April 2005, Simon Foxton styled 30 models as 'living magazine pages', seated in front of a webcam. Via telephone, the 'Sittings' models could take questions from a curious public watching via the Internet. This project details not only each outfit of this thirty-day editorial but also a monograph of Foxton's trailblazing styling career through text and image.

Scrapbooks

An integral part of Foxton's creative method is keeping a scrapbook. Finding and keeping, cutting and collating, the process of this very personal type of image collection allows years of visual snippets to be rationalised into idiosyncratic visual 'essays'. Perfect for reference, era nostalgia or inspiration, see how Foxton''s pages follow interesting formal and thematic patterns, page by page, as well as traversing the sacred and profane.

About

Over April 2005, Simon Foxton styled 30 models as 'living magazine pages' - a different man each day in an Autumn/Winter 2005 outfit by a different fashion designer. Each model was groomed, carefully composed as a magazine shot and seated in front of a webcam for four hours.

Via telephone, these Sittings models could take questions from a curious public watching via the Internet. This project details not only each outfit conceived by Foxton for this thirty-day editorial but also provides a monograph of Foxton's trailblazing styling career through text and image.

Allowing glimpses into Foxton's world of inspirations and influences through his source imagery and sketchbooks, Sittings: 30 Men is a timely examination of Simon Foxton's consistently innovative career as one of the foremost fashion stylists of his generation.
