Solo Gotscho/Ungaro

A collaboration between Emanuel Ungaro and Parisian artist Gotscho, this short film documents an exhibition at the Grand Foyer de l'Opéra Comique in Paris where a Bösendorfer Grand Piano was 'dressed' in Ungaro haute couture, alongside an interview and gallery of original sketches.

About

'Beautiful as the chance meeting on a dissecting table of a sewing machine and an umbrella' - artist Gotscho makes this Surrealist maxim a fact in his fusions of fashion, furniture and décor. Ultimately, however, the work speaks about that which is absent - people.

For Solo Gotscho/Ungaro, Gotscho collaborated with the eponymous founder of the Maison Ungaro and the 'flou' atelier of his haute couture house to 'dress' a Bösendorfer Grand Piano in 100 metres of silk taffeta and 200 metres of silk tulle. The piano was then installed in the Grand Foyer de l'Opéra Comique in Paris for one week. This project documents the installation via an interview with the artist, unique gallery of original sketches and film of the piece in situ.
