The Man Who Knows Everything

In March 2011 London jeweller Hannah Martin marked her latest collection with a site-specific installation at London's Dover Street Market, an exclusive fashion film - and, on the flip-side, a unique augmented reality experience that allows global fans to wear one of Martin's creations in virtual reality.

About

A Voltaire quote - ‘The man who knows everything and never dies’ - titles Hannah Martin's 2011 jewellery collection. It also inspired the collection's fictional hero, the Comte de Saint Germain, an elegantly-dressed alchemist who has lived through four hundred years of history. His death, recorded five times, was distinguished by blinding stones adorning his person. This narrative translates not only to Martin's jewellery, but also to its installation at London's Dover Street Market and on SHOWstudio.

Martin sought to encapsulate the Comte's journey through time, drenched in hallucinogenic colour and rich in sound. At Dover Street Market, the installation, designed by Moritz Waldemeyer, centred around a three-sided twelve-foot DuPont™ Corian® obelisk strung with lasers and surrounding the most iconic piece of Martin's collection - 'Euphoria of Lights - the Comte's Pyramid Ring'.

To access the ring, you must break the lasers, each of which emit sound. Online, Hannah Martin partners with Holition to push luxury to the next step - augmented reality. To reach a global community of jewellery fanatics, Martin offers the Comte's Pyramid Ring in virtual - augmented reality offering viewers the unique chance to try a simulation of the ring via their computer screen.
