Regular collaborators filmmaker Sarah Piantadosi and stylist Ellie Grace Cumming unite on a fashion film starring Aza Shade, Manflu's irrepressible front-woman. The film appears alongside a unique 'visual interview' by Nick Knight. Cumming and Piantadosi approached Knight off the back of his existing creative relationship with Shade and his continued support of young creative talent. The interview appears in Under The Influence magazine alongside editorial stills.
The film channels the energy and style of Shade. The diverse guises she adopts while performing with her band are reflected in the varied fashion on show, from Gucci and Valentino to Pam Hogg and Meadham Kirchhoff. The 'spoken word' soundtrack was central to the film's development. It features Lydia Lunch in an excerpt from The Conspiracy of Women from 1989 and has been a source of inspiration to both Cumming and Piantadosi. They felt it very appropriate to use given that both Lunch and Shade are they are both such powerful and spirited characters.
