Can you help?

Through colour and rapid movement, the animation sequence uses the visual appearance of words on a page, as submitted by SHOWstudio viewers, and recreates a typographical rendition of the original magazine image. When the texts appear in rapid succession, you can almost discern the two lovers lying in their bower of bliss: a literal reenactment of imagery through words. View it as a scaled down version or in the full screen version as it will be exhibited at Colette Boutique Paris.

Invited by ANOTHER magazine to re-work their first ever cover for an exhibition at Colette to mark the Parisian boutique’s 10th birthday celebrations, Nick Knight asked the SHOWstudio audience to represent the picture he shot in words. Some of you tried to stay faithful to the image and offered us lofty poetic mimicry while some of you decided to destroy Nick’s intimate idyll in favour of a more vernacular expression. You also raised some interesting questions: was this a portrayal of real nature or was it just nature conceptualised? Either way, we decided that all of your typographic solutions should be counted and these have been animated to include the breadth of entries and evoke the palette of the original image. Take a look for yourselves.
