Ted Croner, an American photographer and an influential member of the New York School during the 1940s and 1950s, is an exemplar of this particular movement. Known for his haunting night images of New York during the 40s and 50s, Croner has produced memorable and iconic black and white photographs, ones which have appeared on album covers for Bob Dylan as well as in magazines including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. In his photograph 'Cafeteria, NYC', visions of cafe culture convey moments of curiosity, whilst creating a nostalgic sense of the daily life of yesteryear.
