Diem Chau was able to "grasp" lost memories through her intricate piece depicting a red string held between the fingers of an embroidered hand. The imagery overlaying a porcelain plate creates a vignette of fleeting memory, whilst the hand holds onto the past moments that seem to slip away without our control. Simple, yet striking, Diem Chau's ability to portray such imagery in a minimalistic manner welcomes the viewer to relate to the piece based upon their own distant memories.
