This Chinoiserie parasol is an archive piece from John Galliano's first advertising campaign for Christian Dior in 1997. This collection, Galliano's first Ready-to-Wear outing for the august label, was inspired by Jayne Mansfield taking a trip to the exotic Orient. Accordingly,Nick Knight's photograph of this nifty number - with a cheongsam-clad Shalom Harlow swooning underneath it - was one of the inaugural publicity images of a revitalised Dior.
