Media artists Ingrid Mwangi and Robert Hutter live and work as a collective, having recently combined their two artistic positions into one. They show their work under the joint name IngridMwangiRobertHutter and have a common biography which blends their life histories and exhibitions. This major step expresses their underlying artistic message that deals with overcoming gender, social and cultural differences. As the artists' state, "It is not important which one of us creates the concept for a work, or which of us produces any part of it. All of our artistic ideas and efforts flow equally into the work." They explore the potential and limitations of video as a tool of social change, both in and out of Africa.
