The much celebrated textile designer Celia Birtwell is coming to SHOWstudio! Known for her bold printed gossamer chiffons, silks and satins, tailored and cut into romantic dresses and shirts, Birtwell defined the ethereal look of the late 1960s and 1970s.
Most recently, Birtwell has teamed up with Japanese brand, Uniqlo, to create a capsule collection brimming with her signature colourful prints. Birtwell opened up her archive and re-invented, re-scaled, re-worked and re-coloured an extensive collection of prints to use in the designs.
We are honoured, therefore, that the design doyenne is stopping by SHOWstudio to take part in Finger Painting, our latest LiveStudio. Birtwell will be wearing pioneering nail nib extensions - crafted by manicurist extraordinaire Marian Newman - that will allow her to produce amazing inky lines straight from her fingertips.
