Bernard Willhem’s clothes are sometimes difficult to comprehend. Renown for his provocative presentations the designer's collections are defined as loud, bright and baggy. Rethinking traditional menswear, Willhelm deconstructs the silhouette and presents clothes that are energetic, fuelled with sexual references and infused with colour and energy. Willhelm’s fashion language is usually humours, sometimes cartoon like but consistently innovative.

Unfortunately this season there seemed little references to wearable clothes as Willhelm’s group of sporty models wore deconstructed sweat suits, printed jackets and oversized mohair sweaters. Willhelm has always gone after the zeitgeist in contemporary menswear but his method - or madness - creates less desirable clothes each season. Willhem clearly designs from the heart and is steadfast on communicating his own values on taste, dress codes and menswear – it would however be enlightening to see some conventional and commercially viable garments.
