DVF loves women. 'If my only achievement in life was to give women confidence I'd be happy', she once told me and I believe her. She radiates enough confidence to empower the entire female population of Manhattan (not that it's needed). And what she essentially achieved with this collection alongside her creative director Yvan Mispelaere was to offer a selection of great pieces that would make any wardrobe and its owner happy.
Was there a story here, a defining look? Not really. The title on the invite said 'Rendez-Vous', a mysterious scattering of puzzle pieces printed on it. This reappeared on a blouse but...hold on to your wrap dresses, ladies...print was hardly seen. Well, there were some black and white leaves and a rather bizarre hands-on-chest motif on a turtleneck top that brought to mind Anna Wintour's look of shock and disbelief when Grace Coddington shows her the Comme des Garcons 3D hands number in The September Issue but otherwise, it was all about colour, and rather brilliantly named colour, that is. Here're a few: wineberry, fresh plum, torn rose and frosted lime. It makes you want to go round to Diane's for a bite of afternoon tea, doesn't it?
