Belgian designer Kris Van Assche upped his ante this season moving away from his usual monochrome palette and fluid approach to menswear. For next winter the designer was inspired by the work force exploring the idea of blue-collar workers and white-collar dressing. Citing the banker and the workman as his starting point, Van Assche sent out a sharp collection that was one of his strongest to date.

The collection was neat in which suits, tailored jackets, protective workwear, boiler suits, shirting, and blue denim were constructed to appeal to functionalists who adhere to requiring a practical wardrobe, but Van Assche was also added to the mix his signature wide-cropped pants and soft jersey pieces.

The elegant collection communicated a sharper and more modern stance for Van Assche’s menswear. The clean approach, more structured than Van Assce supple aesthetic, took the collection to a new level and possibly a new customer.
