‘Wouldn't it be nice if we were older...’ sang the forever young Beach Boys during Marco Zanini's latest offering for Rochas. It would be nice if Paris decided to stop raining sometime soon. The wet stairs outside the Grand Palais were a street-style hazard. Now, that's a shot you haven't seen lately!
Back to Zanini's girl. She's a kooky one, isn't she? Well, it seems for SS13 she decided to grow up a bit. Or at least, playact at growing up! Out she came in a white-as-snow silk satin slip of a dress and with her chic low ponytail and bold red lips, it seemed as if she's been busy lately pinning pictures of the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy on her Pinterest. There she was again in a simple black satin high-neck top and straight skirt. Yep, definitely CB-K. The flat white hi-tops she wore however were all Rochas.
She even played sexy in a body-hugging silver satin dress, sashaying down the catwalk. Did she ever remove her hi-tops? Yes, for white leather lace-up boots. The long pleated skirts, metallic lurex and brocade cropped jackets over big skirts and equally-big trousers were proper grown-up chic as was a floral print corset dress with a big skirt and a crisp shirt dress with a slim white belt.
If this is too grown-up Rochas for you, Zanini had fun too with polo tops and tunics worn over little shorts, immediately transporting his girl to a tennis court in Malmo, Sweden (Zanini is Swedish Italian) or the Hamptons, a la Caroline B-K. The huge cocooned coats with pleated backs were ideal for a little girl to hide in after a long day of playing Madame. And for a rainy Paris day.
