Show Report: Bouchra Jarrar S/S 14 Haute Couture

At the beginning of the show, I couldn't help but think of a particular pair of treasured Balenciaga pants, sailor/uniform trousers that were a piece de resistance of a certain old collection. This made sense, considering the pedigree of Jarrar, though these weren't by far the best of what was on display. One coat in particular, a beaver fur with a leather yoke was stand out, even more interesting, perhaps than all the blue and green iridescent feathers or perfectly cut lamé trousers. It was a tight, sharp collection and I left thinking not of the pants, but of a slinky floor length dress, and another woman's world altogether.
