If any proof was needed that Ohne Titel’s Alexa Adams and Flora Gill could easily put their high-tech knitting needles aside and still deliver, the white pleated chiffon dress that opened the show should do it. It was light and softly delicate in a way that felt new and exciting for the label. You could imagine slipping into it for cocktails by the beach – and on this humid and rainy New York evening why wouldn’t you? – or in the city and it’s this duality so needed in a modern wardrobe, and so tricky to achieve, that makes Ohne Titel’s customers return for more.
You can rely on the aqua sheer draped cardigan, the body-hugging tonal knit dresses and the flippy little knit skirt to work pretty much anywhere, anytime. And yet, it was the breezier, more fluid pieces that stole the show this evening, like a finely pleated green caftan dress with split chiffon sleeves that made looks with sharp jackets and chain accents feel a little too hard. These two should embrace their softer sides more often.
