Arthur Elgort

Arthur Elgort is a prominent fashion photographer who was born in 1940, in New York.

During his long and reputable career, he has photographed many of the key supermodels, including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, and his clients include designers such as Comme des Garçons, Max Mara and Ralph Lauren. His work has appeared in publications such as American Vogue and ItalianVanity Fair, as well as in his own books such as Camera Crazy (2004) and Arthur Elgort: The Big Picture (2014). His work has been exhibited internationally at the likes of the Steven Kasher Gallery, New York, Galerie Wouter van Leeuwen, Amsterdam and Berlinische Galerie, Berlin and is represented in the permanent collection of the International Centre of Photography, New York and in The Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

As well as fashion photography, Elgort’s interests also lie within other fields. He photographed students at the Vaganova Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg and directed three documentary films. He is also an avid jazz and opera enthusiast as well as a collector of over one hundred cameras.
