Aza Shade

Aza Shade is a multidisciplinary artist based in London. Shade was born in the USSR in 1989, and was raised in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, before moving to London in 2006. She graduated from Central Saint Martins with a degree in moving image. She is now a filmmaker, photographer, artist, model, having also been singer for no wave/experimental band called Manflu.

She has contributed to magazines such as Vice, I Love Fake and Pig Quarterly. Additionally she has put on solo shows in London, Geneva and in the National Gallery of her hometown Kyrgyzstan, as well as being one of the few young artists in the Central Asian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013).
