Cathy Kasterine

Stylist

Cathy Kasterine is a stylist.

After leaving school, Kasterine moved to New York and began assisting on advertising campaigns and editorials with photographers Richard Avedon, Bruce Weber and Horst P Horst. She also assisted her father, photographer Dmitri Kasterine, who at the time was documenting the artists and writers of New York.

On returning to London, Kasterine was employed by Liz Tilberis, as a fashion assistant for three years at British Vogue. Her leaving to become a freelance stylist coincided with a new wave of British fashion photography and styling, epitomised by her landmark shoot of Kate Moss for the June 1993 issue of Vogue. Prints of the model wearing underwear, pictured under fairy lights are now held in the collections of Tate Modern.

Kasterine went on to consult for Prada and style the Miu Miu show in 1997, a collaboration that lasted for six seasons. This led to further contracts with other Italian clients, including working as a fashion editor at Italian Vogue.

Kasterine has shot for many years with photographers Glen Luchford, Ellen Von Unwerth, Tim Walker, and Corinne Day amongst many others. Her key consultancy and advertising clients include Anna Molinari, Blumarine, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Ungaro, Jill Stuart, The Gap, Strenesse, Patrick Cox, Ghost, Julian MacDonald and Guess.
