Christopher Kane is a Scottish-born fashion designer who now lives and works in London. Kane studied both BA and MA at Central Saint Martins, his 2006 MA graduation collection receiving the Harrods Design Award, a showcase in the department store windows and instant commercial acclaim. Kane showed his first collection for Spring/Summer 2007 on-schedule as part of London Fashion Week in September 2006. Kane's design signatures are complex construction and a dedication to luxurious finish, but his collection themes have varied from neon elastic bandage-dresses through punched leather-lace to sweet gingham and pastel shades. Kane has won numerous accolades for his work, including the British Fashion Council's New Designer of the Year award in 2007 and Collection of the Year in 2009, and Young Designer of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards in 2006. Kane has received support from the British Fashion Council's NewGen scheme, and has also been a recipient of the Fashion Forward scheme and the Vogue Fashion Fund. He works as a creative consultant to the Versace label and has designed the Versus label for Versace since 2009. Kane showcased his first collection of menswear in Paris in 2011.
