Born in Athens, Cristos Sarris started his career as a professional photographer in 2000 after working in various areas. During 2004-2009 while living in Paris and after extensive travelling, Sarris self-published a limited edition photo book entitled Happiness. Part of this book is exhibited in Paris for the Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal. The exhibition will be shown in MACHINE-A’s gallery in London in 2017.
Sarris spent a year as a volunteer for the Doctors of the World brunch public relations team in Greece, where he documented the living conditions of the people in Perama - one of the poorest areas in Greece. In 2015, Sarris was commissioned by Onassis Cultural Center to produce a short film about Greek citizens that never visited Athens. The short film was part of the exhibition 'Strange Cities'. March 2016 marks the start of Sarris' new documentary about the cultural impact of the DIY punk rock scene in the Balkans.
