Erdem Moralioglu is a fashion designer based in London, who designs a ready-to-wear line under the label Erdem. Moralioglu was born and raised in Montreal, Canada by his Turkish father and English mother. He moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art where he received his master’s degree in 2003. Upon graduation, Moralioglu moved to New York to work in the design studios of Diane von Furstenberg before relocating to London to launch his own label in 2005.
Designed under the name Erdem, the line's signatures are custom-designed prints and a modern take on traditional femininity and couture workmanship. The Erdem label has collaborated with brand including Scottish rainwear manufacturer Mackintosh, French couture lace supplier Sofie Hallette, and Swarovski.
Since launching, Erdem has received a series of accolades. In 2005, Erdem became the second recipient of the Fashion Fringe prize, helping him to establish his label. Other awards include the 2007 Swarovski British Fashion Council Fashion Enterprise Award, followed by the Fashion Forward award in 2008 from the British Fashion Council. In 2009, Elle Magazine awarded Erdem the Fashion Future Award at the Elle Style awards in London, while his A/W 2009 show was short listed on style.com as one of the top 10 shows of the season. In 2010, Erdem became the first recipient of the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund award.
