The Garage Center for Contemporary Culture was founded in 2007 by Dasha Zhukova, in an abandoned Constructivist garage in Moscow, in the hope that it would become a catalyst for Russia's emerging art scene. Since opening they have held 36 exhibitions, 26 international and 10 Russian. They have exhibited established and respected artists such as Antony Gormley, Mark Rothko, Ilya Kabakov and James Turrell, alongside hundreds more. Garage is run by a strong team with a definitive international voice, and out of an increasing abundance of ideas, Garage the magazine was born. It is a place where we can bring to life projects that transcend the bricks and mortar of our physical space, and showcase ideas that are shared with a wider audience, beyond the limits of Russia.
