Gert Jonkers

Gert Jonkers is an editor and publisher. He is editor-in-chief and publisher of Fantastic Man, and associate editor and publisher of The Gentlewoman.

Jonkers started out as a country-and-western singer and turned to writing in 1992. He was a fashion critic for the daily national newspaper De Volkskrant in The Netherlands and has contributed to T: the New York Times Style Magazine, Esquire, Dutch, View on Colour and Self Service. He has a lavish track record of celebrity interviews, including enchanting conversations with Gore Vidal, Marc Jacobs, Hedi Slimane, Cher, the Sex Pistols, Michael Stipe, Mario Testino, Jeff Buckley, Willie Nelson, Edmund White and ‘Marky’ Mark Wahlberg.

In 2001, along with Jop van Bennekom, Gert created the internationally acclaimed ‘fagazine’ BUTT. In 2005, he launched Fantastic Man, and in 2010, The Gentlewoman was launched.
