Hermes is a luxury french fashion house which was founded in 1837.
It's speciality lies in accessories and leather goods but has branched out to ready to wear since its inception. When the house first began, the founder, Thierry Hermes, established a harness workshop for carriages and horses, this led him to gain acclaim through winning several prizes. It was only when his son took over that products began to retail on a wider scale, eventually leading to the global sales and trading that now happens today.
The designers that have served the house over the years have included Lola Prusac, Jacques Delahaye, Catherine de Karolyi, Monsieur Levaillant, Nicole de Vesian, Eric Bergère, Claude Brouet, Tan Giudicelli, Marc Audibet, Mariot Chane, Martin Margiela, Jean Paul Gaultier, Christophe Lemaire and Véronique Nichanian, who is the current menswear designer.
