Fashion Designer

Joel Diaz was born in the Dominican Republic, and is the designer working under the label Jolibe. Having learnt dressmaking techniques from his mother, Diaz then attended Parsons School, New York. Diaz assisted Helmut Lang for five years, focusing on the development of innovative techniques.

Diaz went on to open a design consultancy studio where he worked on the creation of the A/W 06 Paco Rabanne collection, the S/S 07 and A/W 07 collections for Helmut Lang. He also worked on Coach campaigns and Victoria’s Secret shows, whilst also collaborating with stylists on editorials, campaigns and celebrity wardrobes in the music and film industries.

In 2007 Diaz launched Jolibe at Paris Fashion Week. Jolibe is defined by sharp graphic prints and incorporates innovative tailoring techniques in both constructed and vaporous designs. In 2008, Jolibe was featured in Hywel Davies' 100 New Fashion Designers book.
