Karl Plewka

Karl Plewka is a fashion editor and stylist. Plewka began his fashion training as assistant to Vivienne Westwood and then went on to be assistant fashion editor, then fashion editor of The Observer.

In 1996, Plewka was headhunted to front the fashion team at Interview magazine in New York. Plewka regularly styled shoots with photographers such as Bruce Weber, Ellen Von Unwerth, Karl Lagerfeld, Steven Klein and David LaChapelle. He also oversaw a large part of the magazine and commissioned shoots, interviews and many exciting artistic collaborations.

In 2001, Plewka went freelance and came back to Britain, continuing to forge a strong collaborative bond with his close friend Corinne Day. Their work featured regularly in Italian Vogue, Vogue Nipon, Vogue China, L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Hommes International and Purple. Plewka notes that Corinne Day remains his idol because she taught him that fashion images can hold hope and despair in equal measure. 

Plewka has continued to enjoy all aspects of his varied position in the industry and has consulted on and styled many campaigns and commercials for clients including; River Island, Hermes, H&M, Hugo Boss, Guess, Alberta Ferretti, Cacharel, French Connection, John Rocha, Julien Macdonald, Rocco Barocco, Sharon Wauchob and All Saints.

He wrote the book Validated: The Make-up of Val Garland, and edits beauty publication Beauty Papers.
