Kay Montano

Make-up Artist

Kay Montano is a British make-up artist. From covers of The Face in the late eighties to the supermodels of the nineties and the celebrities of the noughties, Montano has played a role in creating some of the key looks and images of the decades. This includes Calvin Klein’s Obsession campaign featuring Kate Moss.

Montano has worked with many influential photographers, such as Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel and Helmut Newton, and magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and W magazine. Her advertising credits list Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and Armani.

Broadening her scope as a make-up artist, Montano has worked with celebrities from Nicole Kidman and Thandie Newton to Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Connolly. This involves consulting actors on the make-up they wear in their movies and creating looks for promotional press junkets and premieres.

Montano has written for Sunday Times Style, the Guardian and the Daily Mail. Additionally, on her personal blog she takes pleasure in explaining how amateur make-up artists can create professional beauty looks.
