Launched in 1970 by Japanese-born Kenzo Takada, Kenzo a luxury brand incorporating ready-to-wear, fragrance and skincare. Having graduated from Tokyo's Bunka Fashion College, Takada moved to Paris in 1964 and began making garments from the cheap fabrics that he could find in the city's flea markets. Kenzo swiftly gained a following for the decorative and harmonious nature of his clothes and his tactile approach to fabric and he soon found favour around the world with his collections being shown in New York and Tokyo in 1971. In 1999, Takada handed creative control over to his team of his assistants who now lead the design of the brand.
