Laura Lees studied tapestry at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee and has made embroidery a central tenet of her varied artistic, commercial and collaborative practice. She has designed and crafted limited edition one-off pieces for fashion collections with Doran Deacon, Noki, Dave & Joe and Luella Bartley, made record sleeves for Lemon Jelly and guitar straps for The Strokes. She took on a large commission to design costumes and promotional goods for WWF star wrestler 'The Rock'. Lees works independently on her own leather appliquéd 'paintings', animations and tapestries referencing the iconography of betting shop sport motifs, tattoos and calling cards.
