Lauren Kelley

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Lauren Kelley is an artist. She examines stereotypes of race and femininity breathing life into her plastic dramatis personae through the use of stop-frame animation. Self-casting most voice-overs, Kelley addresses issues of the human condition, gender as a whole, and womanhood in particular. 

Kelley was a resident artist at the CORE Programme, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas and has exhibited extensively in galleries and museums across North and South America, including the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, TX, The Dallas Contemporary, Dallas, TX; Anya Tish Gallery, Houston TX; Lawndale Art Center, Houston, TX; Spellman College Museum of Fine Arts, Atlanta, GA; the Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL.
