Malcolm Pate is a filmmaker, photographer and multidisciplinary fine artist, born in Canada and currently living and working in London. Pate created his first video work, ‘Lucid’ in 2000 and began to work alongside designers, musicians and other artists while studying Fine Art at the University of the Arts, London. Pate’s work in various mediums has a baroque feel influenced by surreal, dreamlike elements which are equally unsettling and beautiful. Recently, he has worked with the fashion designers Michiko Koshino and Jean-Pierre Braganza, and has also created video work for the second edition of Diane Pernet's ‘You Wear It Well’, a festival of short films exploring themes of fashion, beauty and style. His artwork has been shown during a number of recent London Fashion weeks and he has recently completed editorial and video work for Dazed and Confused magazine.
