Maria Cristina Carbonell

Maria Cristina Carbonell is a sculptor. She graduated in 1987 from the Fashion Institute of Technology having studied drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine arts and Microbiology at Pine Manor College in Boston, and the Art Student League, in New York. Shifting to 3D work in Venezuela, Carbonell worked an apprenticeship in marble at the Cemetery del Sur, in Caracas, before continuing with marble sculpture and a variety of other mediums in Carrara, Italy. Her education in formal drawing and sculptural training led to her exploration of different mediums such as installation, sculpture, photography, video, and painting. Carbonell exhibits in galleries and museums in Europe and the Americas and is represented by DotFiftyOne in Miami.
