Primal Scream are an experimental electronic rock'n'roll band, originally formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie (vocals) and Jim Beattie. Inspired by punk rock, glam rock, dub reggae, disco, psychedelic freak beat, and garage rock, it was Primal Scream's foray into dance music on 1991 album Screamadelica which propelled them to mainstream success.
Their current line up is Bobby Gillespie on vocals, Andrew Innes on guitar, Barrie Cadogan on guitar, Martin Duffy on keyboards, Darren Mooney on drums and Simone Butler on bass.
As of 2020, Primal Scream have released 11 studio albums, the latest of which is 2016's Chaosmosis.
