Roland Mouret

Fashion Designer

Born in Lourdes in 1961, Roland Mouret's initial involvement with the fashion scene came through his work as a model, stylist and artistic director in both Paris and London.

After his permanent move to the UK in the late eighties, Mouret worked under the label People Corporation before launching his debut womenswear collection at London Fashion Week in 1998.

Mouret established himself as one of the leaders of the 'demi-couture' movement, a name given to expertly constructed garments, often with a price tag nearing that of couture, that could be bought off the rack. His most famous pieces —  the Galaxy, Titanium and Moon dress – garnered him the reputation of a designer with a strong understanding of structure, silhouette and the female form. Mouret was awarded accolades such as the British Designer of the Year at the 2002 Elle Style Awards.

He also introduced a knitwear range, jeans, bags, accessories and an expanded leather collection to his collections in addition to the development of his RM Rough Raw diamond jewellery range. Mouret left the company in October 2005, and launched a new line 19RM, in July 2007 at Paris Haute Couture Week. He began showing under his original brand name again in 2010.
